Reconnect Wi-Fi

Learn how to reconnect your media player back to the Wi-Fi.

Grab your Scholastic Network remote

Try to locate one of the following remotes. We typically leave these remotes with the receptionist after completing an installation:

These remotes will universally work on all Scholastic Network media players.

Locate the media player that is offline

If the "Cafeteria" screen is offline, then we need to head to the cafeteria with our Scholastic Network remote. Look behind the TV for the media player -- it should be emitting a blue light if it's powered on:

Exit to the dashboard

Open the Settings app

Once on the dashboard, open the Settings app:

Click on Wi-Fi

Inside of the Settings app, click on "Wi-Fi":

Click on your Wi-Fi network

If your Wi-Fi status says "Connected", you should be good to go. If there is a button that says "Connect", click it and try to reestablish a connection to your Wi-Fi network:

If your Scholastic Network app is still showing "Service Unreachable" error, even after making sure the Wi-Fi is showing "Connected", then please try the following:

  • Ask IT to whitelist *.thescholasticnetwork.com for their network. The school's network might be blocking our domain.

  • Ask IT to whitelist the media player's IP address / MAC address. Some districts require further authentication before allowing a device onto the network. Ask us for the media player's IP address or MAC address and we are happy to provide it.

  • Accept the splash page. If you've connected the media player to a guest network, there is most likely a splash page that requires consent before being allowed onto the network. Go back to the dashboard, open Google Chrome or Firefox and go to any URL, you will be redirected, and from there, you can accept the splash page.

Avoid connecting the media player to guest networks. You want a permanent network for the media player to avoid having to reconnect it all the time.
